Everyone enjoys a high quality, green planted, landscape in the areas they live and work. However, it’s more than just appearance that is beneficial, and the level of protection local authorities’ offer will ultimately have widespread implications to local residents in terms of health, crime levels plus economic and educational performance.

Local authorities face huge challenges in delivering progress in local service provisions – many of which are now targeted through statutory initiatives such as Local Area Agreements and Regional Spatial Strategies.

Greener Planning, Greener UK has been designed, through consultation with landscape and planning experts, to highlight practical ways through which planting and green space can be used to meet local authority targets.
